7Directions Dance Ceremony

Monthly Virtual Women’s Circle

You’re invited!

What?

Join us for Women’s 7Direction Dance Ceremony monthly through the end of 2026. You can learn more about 7Directions here. Anyone who identifies as a woman, femme, or non-binary is welcome.

Why?

We want more 7Directions in our lives and we know lots of women who would benefit from it but aren’t available for in-person dances. Also, we’ve learned that when we show up for 7Directions, it shows up for us.

Who?

Miki Johnson and Velma Gentzsch are certified 7Directions facilitators and good friends who met 15 years ago in a monthly women’s dance ceremony in the Bay Area. We run our own multi-faceted businesses and collaborate on Martyr-Free Mothering.

Where?

On Zoom. And if you’re having a negative reaction to anything (especially ceremony) on a screen, hear us out. We’ve seen first-hand in the years since COVID (when 7Directions first went online) how powerful this ceremony can be online (energy is not bound by time or space, after all). And once we do a quick check-in at the beginning of the ceremony, the rest of the time you’ll be dancing (or resting), with no expectation to interact with the screen. We know that carving out the space and time to nourish yourself in the midst of your home life can feel challenging. And we’ve also noticed how this exact requirement creates an important opportunity to practice the both/and of negotiating relationships so that everyone gets their needs met.

When?

Generally Sundays 12–2 Eastern. Dates, details and registration links are below.

The Details

Dates & Times (Sundays)

Timing: Dances are scheduled for 2 hours, but we recommend giving yourself a 15-minute buffer at the end in case we go long and/or to have a breather between the ceremony and whatever you have next.

Room setup: You’ll want a private space with room to move around at least a bit (and lie down, ideally). Have a candle available (any color but red) and know where east is in your room.

What to wear: Comfortable clothing you can move in, ideally with layers. A water bottle and journal are also recommended.

Sound: Ideally, hook up a good speaker to your computer (by bluetooth or cord). Second-best is bluetooth headphones. Computer speakers are last resort as they are rarely loud enough.
