Find freedom on the dance floor
It takes a lot of energy to hold the level of paradox we’re experiencing these days. Famine and war seeming to escalate by the hour—and fall’s sweet crispness is calling us to enjoy the natural beauty around us. Technology is threatening our jobs and sanity—and then a call or hug from a loved one reminds us of the incredible gift of our lives.
How do we navigate the extreme ups and downs, ins and outs of this reality? We dance with it.
What we learn on the dance floor helps carry us in the rest of our life. We practice physically shaking off the exhaustion and overwhelm. We move through heavy emotions so we can fully embody our power, joy, and pleasure. We give voice to our experience through sounds, laughter, tears. We slow down and listen to what our heart needs, allowing it to open and offer us a deeper connection to our intuition. We give ourselves rest and reflection time, right there on the dance floor.
Within the container, we are free. When we commit to show up for ourselves at a time and place, even when we don’t know exactly why, the unknown meets us and gifts us a bit of its magic. And once you’ve found sanctuary and freedom here—you carry it inside of you always.

7Directions Dance Ceremony is a powerful, protective, highly-facilitated container that I’ve seen hold incredible journeys of transformation and healing — myself included, as it’s been my main spiritual practice for over a decade. It was with so much joy and honor that I became a 7Directions facilitator in 2018.
I’m excited to be holding another dance ceremony at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Athens. The beautiful, tree-surrounded building has been a sanctuary for sacred community experiences for decades—and the huge hardwood floor gives us plenty of room to boogie down with whatever energy we’re working!

After grounding, we’ll circle up for check-ins and to name intentions
I'll call in the directions and guardians of the ceremony
Music is ~90 mins: 60 mins for “uppy” dance, then gentler tunes while you journal/draw/rest
We'll close by sending blessings to the world.
Afterwards, we’ll enjoy nourishing food together (or you’re welcome to head out if you need to be home earlier)
As the facilitator, I create the musical journey specially for this moment and these participants; it ranges from electronic, funk, and disco, to world and devotional tunes. I will also offer hands-on energy work to those who want it.
NO dance experience or skills required.
This is about how it feels NOT how it looks.
